With the city's attractions being fairly spread out, most LA residents choose to get about by car and all well-known car rental companies are represented here at both the airport and in the city. While you might find it more convenient to rent a car, beware of the LA traffic congestion, as the freeway system regularly comes to a standstill during peak times.

The LA bus and MetroRail networks offer alternative forms of transport, but do not reach all destinations and services are somewhat limited. Taxis are also a convenient way to get around; however, with traffic being a constant problem, it is often wiser to travel on the MetroRail.

Los Angeles International Airport offers both regular international and domestic flights, with good road and rail transport links to downtown and other areas. As one of the world's busiest airports, the facilities here are excellent and it is conveniently located only 15 miles from downtown.
